The CanAm Bowl, a six-man all-star football game pitting Team USA versus Team Canada, was played July 1 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, Canada, with kickoff at 8 p.m. local time (too late for results in this week’s edition). This was the 27th year the game has been played.

The Spur High School cheerleaders attended the Lone Star cheer camp at Lubbock Christian University this past week. They earned the award “Best Sideline Chant”and several individual awards while at camp. The high school cheerleaders are Addison Fulmer, senior; Leah Munoz, senior; Weslyn Givens, junior; Keylee Molina, junior; Sariah Sepeda, junior; Tatom Bridge, sophomore; and Grace Barron, freshman. | COURTESY PHOTOS

Dickens 4-H attends 10-County Camp

On June 24, thirteen members of the Dickens County 4-H group set off for District 3’s annual 10 County Camp in Roaring Springs. 4-H members learned about wildlife with a visit from Pinocchio the longnosed snake, an indigo snake, horny toads and a box turtle.

Dickens 4-H launches Summer Day Camps

The first of a series of Summer Day Camps for Dickens County 4-H was held on June 23. Members traveled to the Texas Tech Veterinary School, where they toured the facility, including classrooms, radiology, anesthesia and the models.
