Even though it is summer, Dickens County 4-H has been very busy already. Maddee Foster attended District 3 Teen Leader Lab. While there, she participated in leadership activities and was also the voting delegate for Dickens County to elect district officers.

The Jayton Jaybirds survived a late push from Gordon to finish atop the Conference 1A 2025 UIL Lone Star Cup standings, presented by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance. Using a playoff appearance by the baseball team, the Jaybirds claimed their firstever Lone Star Cup title.
In the Brazos Bowl All Star event held June 13–14 in Strawn, Craig Hamilton and Cory Hamilton coached the Blue Team. JD Hamilton and Ace Walker played in the football game, and Ace Walker played in basketball game. The summertime six-man tradition, which began in 2013, now features football as well as boys and girls basketball. | COURTESY PHOTOS

Junior Class Golf Fundraiser a success

It was a busy week at the Spur Golf Association, with a Tuesday scramble, a Wednesday board meeting, and the Junior Class Fundraiser Tournament on Saturday. June 10 scramble results. We had a wonderful turnout, with 39 players participating.
