The Spur junior varisty football team traveled to Matador last Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024. The Bulldogs won 35-12. #28 Brandon Williams threw two touchdowns during the game: one to #22 Charlie Alderman and another to #11 Levi Dietz.

The Spur Bulldogs traveled to Meadow for the week four game of the 2024 varsity football season, knocking off their opponent 62–14 to remain undefeated for the preseason. Spur won the toss and began the game receiving the ball.

I don’t know that the weather could have been more perfect for last week’s scramble! It was absolutely beautiful. We had 33 scramblers participate, and eight teams were formed.

2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the Jayton Jaybirds’ first State football championship. On Friday, Sept. 13, during the halftime of the Jayton–Valley game, the school recognized coaches, advisers, players and cheerleaders associated with the State champions.

The Jayton cross country teams had a great day in Abilene Saturday with competition from schools of all sizes. They were the only 1A team at the meet, competing with schools through 6A.

The Spur junior varsity and junior high football squads traveled to Aspermont last Thursday, and though they didn’t come out with a win, the Bullpups and Bulldogs showed improvements and fought on the field. In the junior high team’s first game, #6 Hazen Hall scored the only touchdown for Spur.

Spur met up with Aspermont at their home field at Jones Stadium for the week three matchup on September 13. The Spur Bulldogs came out with the win, 72-32, making them 3-0 for the preseason. Spur won the toss and opted to receive the ball to start the game against the Aspermont Hornets.
