Jayton Lady Jays finish 3rd at San Marcos XC

Jayton cross country teams had a great outing in San Marcos last week. The girls team placed 3rd overall, with Jace Chisum placing 1st, Kamryn Nail placing 3rd and Daylee Chisum placing 4th. The boys team placed 8th overall.

JGISD approves budget in August meeting

In the regular monthly meeting of the Jayton-Girard Independent School District on August 28, Principal Nathan Branum reported that the school system had an enrollment of 172.

Bulldogs Fall to Motley County

Last Friday, September 8, the Spur Bulldogs played Motley County at Spur’s Jones Stadium. The Bulldogs fell short in the end with a final score of 79–54. The football stands filled with fans from both towns for the sometime rival game.

The Jayton Jaybirds boys varsity cross country team and the Jayton Lady Jays girls varsity cross country team both won their Eula meets Tuesday.

Going into Friday night’s game most “experts” had the Klondike Cougars to win by as much as two touchdowns. The problem is, no one told the Jaybirds. Jayton steamrolled the Cougars right out of the gate.

Spur Bulldogs regrouping after Irion County loss

TheSpurBulldogs took on Irion County in Blackwell ThursdayAugust 31, losing 48–0. The Bulldog team is rebuilding after losing players to injuries—and dealing with the fact of being a young team, many of whom are taking the varsity field this year for the first time.
