Alpha Grice 1932-2019

Alpha Grice, 86, passed away Aug. 5, 2019, in Glade-water, Texas. A celebration of life was held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Jayton; Pastor Jake Edwards officiated. Burial was in the Jayton Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. The family welcomed visitors Friday, Aug. 9 at Weathersbee- Ray Funeral Home in Rotan.

Born to this earth on Aug. 17, 1932, Alpha Mae (Fuqua) Grice entered heaven’s gates on Aug. 5, 2019.

Alpha was welcomed home by her husband, Nolan Grice, daughter, Barbara Grice, grandson Rodney Grice, and great-grandchildren Debbie and Tuffy Grice. Also there to meet her were her brothers, Andy and Macy Fuqua, parents, A.N. (Bub) and Fannie Mae Howell Fuqua, special friend Mac Mc-Neely, and a host of friends.

“Nanny” loved her family, friends, dancing, cooking and children. She never met a stranger who was a stranger for very long. She found a connection with everyone she met.

Those left to carry on are her sons, Brian Grice and wife, Amanda, of Gladewater and Bobby Grice and wife, Luann, of Snyder, and Roger Grice of Forgan, Oklahoma. Alpha is also survived by 12 grandchildren and their spouses, 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way, and special friend Jim Johnston.

The family expresses deep gratitude to Elite Home Health and Heart 2 Heart Hospice, both of Longview, for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations made to either of these organizations are encouraged.
