Bobbie Maye Young

Grantham Brewster Mahaffey, 89, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019.

Bobbie was born on Nov. 1, 1929 in Spur to Garner Young and Tressie Hienze Young. Bobbie grew up in the Redhill Community and graduated from Spur High School in 1947. She married Carl Grantham in 1947, and the two went on to raise three children before Carl's passing. Bobbie was married to Ted Brewster in 1996 for two years, before his tragic passing due to illness. In 2008, Bobbie married the current love of her life, Olen Mahaffey, and the two were known as sweethearts.

Bobbie was a woman of many hobbies and always needed to keep her hands busy even up until the end. She loved crocheting, sewing, quilting and cooking, and was very involved in Dickens County 4-H and local home-demonstration clubs. Bobbie will always be remembered for her generosity and her dedication to her family.

She was preceded in death by husbands Carl Grantham and Ted Brewster; son, Wayne Grantham; and brothers Lester Young, Herbert Young, Wallace Young, Pat Young and Jackie Young.

Bobbie is survived by husband Olen Mahaffey; daughters, Kathy Coker (Ralph) and Tonette Roberts (John); brother Ted Young (Carol); sisters-in-law Elizabeth Young, Darlene Young and Linda Young; stepsons Mike Brewster, Don Brewster, Glendon Brewster, Mark Brewster and Rodney Mahaffey; stepdaughters Vickie Olsen, Janie Slaven and Linda Gerrald; grandchildren, Heath Redman, Jeff Redman, Jamae Redman, Chad Mahaffey, Kyle Mahaffey, Stephen Gerrald, Sheila Joiner and Ricky Gerrald; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
