Dannie Lloyd Randall, 1941–2020

Dannie Lloyd Randall died unexpectedly on August 13, 2020, in Spur, Texas, at the age of 79.

Dannie is survived by two sisters, Shirley Randall Bird of Wolfforth, Texas, and Carolyn Randall Elliott of Monroe, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Bill Randall of Spur, Texas; brother William Randall of Fritch, Texas; and sister Marjorie Randall Davis of Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Dannie was born on April 28, 1941, in Spur, Texas, to Morgan and Bill Randall. Dannie graduated from Spur High School in 1959. Dannie immediately joined the United States Navy and after 30 years retired from the Navy in 1989. After traveling the world and seeing every continent, including Antarctica, he returned to Spur, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a very accomplished computer operator. He programed the simulation for the Navy that was used in the movie “Top Gun.” He has a medal and a plaque that recognized him for that accomplishment.

Dannie served on the Spur city council for many years. He had many friends and neighbors that he loved.

A short memorial service is planned for September 5, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Rickels Park downtown Spur. Please bring a chair and a face mask. Tony Mark Elliott, Dannie’s brother-in-law, will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dannie Randall’s life.
