Larry Dean Rapier, 1937–2021

Larry Dean Rapier, 83, passed from this life February 22, 2021, in Jayton, Texas, after suffering a debilitating stroke one year earlier. He wanted nothing more than to leave this world and go to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Larry was born November 8, 1937, in Oklahoma. From an early age, he developed a love for animals, especially dogs and horses. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy and served from 1955 to 1958 as a radio operator.

Larry was a cowboy, work ing as a horse trainer, farrier and ranch hand, and rode bareback broncs and bulls. He was also an ordained Baptist minister, operated a boys’ home, and pastored numerous churches.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Darlene Rapier and wife LaRue D’Alise Rapier.

Graveside services were held 2:00 p.m. at Girard Cemetery on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
