Mattie Eloise (McKeehan) Hilton, 1944–2020

LUBBOCK—Mattie Eloise (McKeehan) Hilton passed away October 31, 2020, in Lubbock, Texas. The family held a visitation on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan, Texas. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020, in Jayton Cemetery in Jayton, Texas, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Born November 17, 1944 in Jayton, Texas, Mattie was the daughter of the late Omah and Arsena (Rackley) McKeehan. She attended school in Jayton and worked many years for the Texas Boll Weevil program and later became justice of the peace for Kent County. She married the love of her life, Lewie Hilton, on March 3, 1964 in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was a Baptist. Mattie loved her family and grandkids and was their biggest supporter. She was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, B.M. McKeehan; and five sisters, Arene Laughlin, Maxine Schuler, Lorene Vinson, Ann Tagle and Sue DelaCruz.

She is survived by two daughters, Stacy Burchett (Kevin), and Tina Lytle; five grandchildren, Stephanie Burchett, Tyler Burchett, Sheldon Burchett, Madison Lytle, and Colton Heath; and one greatgrandchild, Aiden Laird, and one on the way, Asher Burchett.
