Roy Harold Parker 1933-2019

Roy Harold Parker, 85, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at his home. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, at the First Assembly of God Church in Jayton. Burial was in Jayton Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation was held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel.

Born Aug. 12, 1933, in Stonewall County, Harold was the son of the late Alton B and Nola (Womack) Parker. He graduated from high school and attended Tarleton State College. Harold married the love of his life Vera Mae Stanaland on July 1, 1958, in Jayton. They made their home in Hobbs, New Mexico before moving to Jayton in 1962. Harold was a hardworking farmer. He enjoyed gardening and shared peas, watermelon and cantaloupe with his community. Harold loved spending time with his family, taking vacations to Red River New Mexico and annual fishing trips to East Texas. He was a Christian.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Alton B. Parker. He was also preceded in death by his special four-legged friend, his corgi named Lexie, that he spoon-fed breakfast every morning.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vera Parker; three sons, Harold Parker (Deborah), Bryan Parker and Michael Parker (Lisa); grandchildren, Leslie Stevens (Lane), Laci Parker (Frank Espino), Megan Parker, Drew Parker (Carissa), Cassidy White (Alicia) and Denise Parker; seven great-grandchildren, Emma and Mason Stevens, Hayden Morris, Kymber and Paisley White, and Noah and Elijah Gast; two sisters, Jean Craft and Sue Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
