Valene Schmidt, 1948–2002

Valene Kay Taylor Schmidt was born March 9, 1948, in Crosbyton, Texas, to Jonah Taylor and Catherine Nina Webb Taylor. She was a loving wife to her husband, John Randle Schmidt, for 55 years. They were married on August 6, 1965, and had two children.

She is survived by husband, John, of Spur, Texas; son Jaylon and wife, Lindy, of Arlington, Texas; her daughter, Jolynn, of Spur; granddaughter Savannah of San Angelo, Texas; and grandson Julian of Fort Worth, Texas.

She enjoyed working outside in her several gardens, spending time with her animals, watching the History Channel, and traveling with her family. She spent her career as an office manager for several doctor’s offices in Weatherford and Plainview. Her favorite plants were honeysuckle, hydrangeas, roses, lavender, and ivy. Her favorite trees were cypress, willow, Japanese cherry blossom, and mimosa. She loved her dog, Boudreaux, her lap cat, Roscoe and her shoulder cat, Pumpkin. She had a love of learning that was unparalleled and never died as she aged.

Valene died on the morning of November 12, 2020. She was surrounded by her daughter and granddaughter at the time. Condolences can be sent to 601 Willard Ave. in Spur, Texas, 79370.
