Virgie Florene Favor, 94

JAYTON—Virgie Florene Favor, 94, passed away of natural causes on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Kent County Nursing Center in Jayton, Texas. Services were held Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jayton ,where she was a member for almost eighty years. Burial followed in the Jayton Cemetery, with services directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home of Rotan.

Flo was the daughter of the late Ell Robert and Cynthia Elizabeth (Kilpatrick) Goodall. She was the second born in her grandparents’ house at the home place in Kent County. Flo was a lifelong Kent County resident and worked at the ASC office (which was later known as the FSA office) for over 35 years. She retired in 1987. Flo enjoyed genealogy. She, along with others from Kent County, gathered information for the book “Kent County and Its People” published in 1983.

Flo was married to Gordon Cheyne from 1942 until his death in 1996. She married Joe Favor in 1998. Joe died in 2006.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one sister, Nadine; and three brothers, Marvin, Bernice and Billy.

Flo is survived by one sister-in-law, Pat Goodall of Girard; one son, Robert (Kelleen) of College Station; two grandsons, Robert Jr. (Rachel) of Bay City and Zachary of College Station; one granddaughter, Michaela (Daniel Tice) of Kailua, Hawaii; one great grandson and one great granddaughter; and a host of nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Kent County Nursing Home for their care during the last years of Flo’s life. Special thanks go to Bonnie, Kassie, Tessa, Aleshia, Marvina, Ann, Chanel, Brenda, Patricia, Roseanna, Scott, and Darren.
