John Garcia was called to rest on Jan. 13, 2026. He was born on Aug. 27, 1950, in Rio Grande City, Texas, to Trinidad and Wenscenlado Garcia.
John spent much of his childhood in Spur, Texas, where he grew up running around with his three best friends—Silver, Manuel and Poncho—creating memories that would stay with him for a lifetime.
Later, John moved to Waxahachie, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Anna Fira Garcia. The two were married on Feb. 8, 1969, beginning a beautiful marriage that lasted more than five decades. Together they built a family and a life filled with love, laughter and dedication to one another.
John and Anna raised four children: John David Garcia, Sandra Garcia Harris, Celestina Garcia Hernandez and Cassie Garcia. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
John worked at Owens Corning Fiberglass for more than 40 years before retiring. After retirement, he and Anna spent 11 years in Florida enjoying life together before returning to Waxahachie for two years. They later moved to East Texas, where they made their home with their daughter Sandra.
John was a loving and caring man who never met a stranger. He truly loved life and the people in it. One thing he said often was, “This is a beautiful world we live in.” He believed we should take advantage of every moment, be happy while we are here, and make the most of our time because life is short. He encouraged others to make the right decisions, do the right thing, and live in a way that makes a difference.
Children meant the world to John. He was always there for them— whether it was football, soccer, softball, cheerleading or any activity they were involved in. If the kids were there, John was there too, sometimes as a proud spectator and sometimes as a coach. Being present for his family was simply who he was.
John also had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to laugh, joke and make others laugh. His joy, kindness, and the way he embraced life will be remembered by everyone who knew him.
John leaves behind his loving wife, Anna Garcia; his children John David Garcia, Sandra Garcia Harris (Bill), Celestina Garcia Hernandez (Mike) and Cassie Garcia (Jacob); along with 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.
He is also survived by his sisters Mina Garcia, Laidy Vasquez, Justa Villarreal and Maria Olivia Peña; and his brothers Robert Garcia and Raul Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Trinidad and Wenscenlado Garcia; his brothers Albert Garcia and Noe Garcia; and his sisters Elida Ramos, Emma Rojas, Stella Baron and Lupe Benavides.
John will be remembered for his love of family, his generous spirit, his laughter, and his constant reminder that “this is a beautiful world we live in.”
