Mickey Buck Blackwell,

1932–2926

LUBBOCK— Mickey Buck Blackwell left his earthly body on June 9, 2026 at the age of 94.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026, in the Kornerstone Directors Chapel. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation was held prior to the service Monday at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026 at the funeral home.

Mickey was born on May 9, 1932, at home on the family ranch located a few miles southwest of Girard, Texas. His parents were Preston Albert Blackwell and Opal Velma Gibson Blackwell. He had an older sister, Betty, and a younger brother, Dan.

Mickey graduated from Girard High School, where he made many lifelong friends. Mickey married Ella Mae Copeland on July 5, 1951. To this union were born Craig Blackwell (Christi), Britt Blackwell (Deb) and Julie Kujawski (Jayme).

Mickey married Visa Yvonne Horton on March 8, 1980. Her sons are Steve Ott and David Ott (Sherry).

During his life, Mickey was involved with farming, ranching, cattle feeding, cattle order buying, oil production, trucking, custom planting and harvesting. In addition, he was a treasure hunter and storyteller. Mickey loved a good joke and was very quick-witted and funny. He enjoyed bringing laughter to others.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Yvonne Blackwell, and children Craig, Britt, Julie, Steve and David, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
