Beginning Oct. 24, 2021, callers in the 806 area code must dial 10 digits (area code plus telephone number) for all local calls. On and after this date, according to Cap Rock Telephone’s newsletter, local calls dialed with only seven digits may not be completed, and a recording will inform the caller that the call cannot be completed as dialed. Callers must hang up and dial again using (806) plus the number.
