Hotel Turkey is saddling up for their First Annual Caprock Cowboy Fandango, taking place Feb. 28 through March 2. They are claiming the weekend to be “full of all things western and cowboy” with a full lineup of musicians as well as a western art exhibit for viewing and shopping.

House unveils its voucher version

AUSTIN— Texas House members filed a bevy of education bills last week, including a proposed $8 billion investment in public education and a voucher bill that ties the amount of money spent for private schooling to the dollar amount provided to public schools.

From the garden A white potato crop has a definite spot in spring gardens. Make plans now for a mid-March planting date. Planting mid-March gives plenty of time to grow a summer crop after the tubers are harvested in June. Even gardeners that have never grown potatoes can grow a crop.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Mar. 15, 2025, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The Friends of the Library will be hosting a taco pile-on meal with a drink and dessert for a suggested donation of $10 per plate. All proceeds will benefit the Dickens County-Spur Public Library.
