Jayton head basketball coach, minister leaving for Whiteface

For the past six years, Jason Blankenship has played a crucial leadership role in the Jayton community. He served as the minister of the Jayton Church of Christ and as head basketball coach for Lady Jays girls basketball, along with coaching cross country and tennis.

Harmony Plains Singing School returns to South Plains July 16-21

Travelers driving up U.S. Highway 62 in Crosby County may recognize the red-brick schoolhouse at Cone that leaves them with questions. This tiny village just outside Floyd County established a post office in 1903. It had a general store, churches, and small businesses at one time.

Spur city council reopens secretary search, rehires Carothers

At a called meeting Friday, June 6, the Spur city council voted to reinstate Ashley Carothers as city secretary through January 1, and will readvertise the position. Carothers has agreed to stay on through January 1, 2024, or until a successor is hired and trained before that date.
