Grant funding available to eligible volunteer fire departments for recruitment

COLLEGE STATION—Texas A&M Forest Service is offering new Volunteer Recruitment Resources grants designed to help Texas volunteer fire departments strengthen their workforce and enhance community fire protection.

Caprock Enduro season begins at Kalgary this weekend

The Caprock Enduro Association, which holds several dirt-bike races annually in the region east of Lubbock, will start engines this Saturday and Sunday at Kalgary (Crosby County) with the Lonestar Adult Enduro, Lonestar Super Short Enduro and Lonestar Mini Enduro events.

SPC to offer Petroleum Safety classes

South Plains College will host two general safety classes for petroleum industry workers March 30 and March 31 in its Technology Center. The college’s Workforce Development is bringing back two oilfield safety classes required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Afton student named to South Plains College Fall 2022 Deans’List

LEVELLAND—Richard Klemisch of Afton (79220) was named to the South Plains College Fall 2022 Deans’ List. Klemisch was among more than 680 students named to the Fall 2022 Deans’ List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.25 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Three Spur students named to ASU Dean’s List

Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, has announced the students achieving the Dean's List for the 2022 fall semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean's List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Texas billionaire Red McCombs dies at 95

SAN ANTONIO— B. J. “Red” McCombs, a San Antonio businessman who started as a car salesman and grew an empire that spanned media, oil and professional sports, died at his home at age 95.
