Jaybirds post 2020 varsity football schedule

According to head coach Josh Stanalad, fall 2020 varsity football games for Jayton-Girard ISD will begin August 27 with a home game against Ira. The Jaybirds will face a number of unfamiliar opponents next season due to UIL redistricting. Homecoming is set for Friday, September 25, 2020.

JGISD posts 6th six weeks Honor Roll, 2019–20

Jayton-Girard ISD has announced its a and A-B honor rolls for the final six-week period of the 2019–20 school year. Congratulations to these top grade performers on their achievements.

DCTF releases pre-season Top 10 poll

Two nearby West Texas powerhouses have been picked to be in the Top 10 in the state in 2021 by the bible of Texas gridiron coverage, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. And the predictions are especially interesting because with re-alignment, the two teams are now in the same district.

FISHING REPORT

Lake Alan Henry GOOD. Water clear 62 degrees; 0.94' low. Black bass are good moving out from the banks within 30m. They are not feeding as regularly but hitting soft plastic tackle, including worms and jigs. Crappie are excellent on minnows catching limits in less than an hour in some instances.

Area athletes earn All-State Academic Honors

Area high school athletes have received recognition for their academic excellence by the Texas Six Man Coaches Association (TSMCA) and The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
