Lake Alan Henry FAIR. Water clear 82–86 degrees; 3.39' low. Largemouth bass are good to excellent on topwater poppers in the morning, spinners and crankbait. Crappie are slow on jigs. Catfish are slow on live bait. Lake Colorado City Water stained; 78–85 degrees; 12.66' low.

Jayton Jaybird fans have gotten used to seeing #32 and #21 leading the way on the field for the past couple of years, along with many other great players.

Lightning halts electric Rangers game

The Patton Springs Rangers met the Spur JV Bulldogs on the stomping grounds of the Motley County Matadors last Thursday night. With both teams looking to send the other away in defeat, the fans of both sides would be in for a great game.

Bulldogs hobble Broncos

The Spur Bulldogs were the unexpected host in Friday night’s game with the Meadow Broncos. Meadow was originally scheduled to be the site of the game, but electronic scoreboard issues moved the contest to Spur.

Rangers contain Cotton Center

The Rangers faced off against the Cotton Center Elks this past Friday night. With the Rangers tough loss last week against Wilson, they were looking to come back and send the Elks home in defeat. But the Elks has come prepared as well, drawing first blood in the first quarter.

The Jayton Jaybirds entered their contest against Aspermont looking for retribution after last year’s tough defeat by the Hornets.

Zarate takes 1st, Spurettes take 3rd in XC meet

The Spur cross-country teams competed at the San Angelo meet last week. The high school boys finished 5th overall, out of 17, teams and finished in first place of all the 1A teams. Jorden Zarate won his 3rd consecutive meet.

Spur falls to White Deer in Gridiron Classic

Ranked as high as number three in some state polls, White Deer proved a formidable foe for the Spur Bulldogs Saturday night at the Jayton Gridiron Classic, as the Bucks prevailed 72-28. Spur jumped out to an early lead of 14-0 with 5:15 left in the first quarter.
