Dickens County 4-H excels at state horse show

Lynndee Foster, Jaydee Foster, Mackenzie Gardner and Bucki Smith represented Dickens County 4-H Club at the 2018 Texas State Horse Show held July 22–28 at the Taylor County Coliseum in Abilene.

Arnold of Spur wins National FFA scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS — The National FFA Organization has awarded a $1500 America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders scholarship to Bryn Arnold of the Spur Secondary School. The scholarship is sponsored by America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Monsanto Fund.

Haynes School celebrates 34th Reunion July 21

Haynes Reunion will always be something to rejoice about. This year was the 34th Haynes Reunion. Some came from Houston, Witchta Falls,, Mesquite, Lubbock, Killeen, Sweetwater, Lorenzo, Abilene, Plainview as well the great town of Spur.

Spur golf course hosts successful tournament

Noe Reyna, who were two strokes behind with a 127. Oscar Frausto, Ralph Frausto and Dustin Fincher won the first flight with a two-day total of 134. Coming in second in the first flight was the team of Landon White, Scott Reddin and Robert Reddin, three stokes behind first with a 137.
