It’s the game we’ve all been waiting for. The Jayton Jaybirds will play for the State Championship next Wednesday, December 18, at 11 a.m. at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) last week announced the 2024 THSCA water polo, team tennis, and cross country Super Elite Teams. The award recognizes student- athletes across Texas for their exemplary athletic achievement in these sports during 2024 UIL competition.
DICKENS ANGEL TREE The Dickens County Angel Tree, located in the Spur Security Bank lobby and sponsored annually by the Dickens County Child Welfare Board, is ready for angel pickups. All gifts for the anonymous recipients must be dropped off at Spur Security Bank by noon Friday, Dec. 20. Please leave gifts unwrapped and put them in a plastic bag.The ChildWelfare Board appreciates all generous donations. | TEXAS SPUR PHOTO

On December 5, five members of the Dickens County 4-H club attended the District 3 Contests for Livestock Skill-a-Thon and Ag Product Identification in Young County. Livestock Skill-a-Thon tests a member’s knowledge of breeds, equipment and feeds along with judging hay, wool and meat.
