The Jayton Jaybirds and the Lady Jays won the district cross country meet in Guthrie last week and are regional qualifiers. Varsity girls individual medalists were Jace Chisum, 1st place; Abigail Mosley, 2nd place; Remington Long, 3rd place; Reese Redford, 7th place.

The Jayton Jaybirds opened district competition last week with a convincing victory over the 5-1 Paint Creek Pirates. It is more of the same with this super talented Jaybird team, scoring touchdowns on one-play drives and giving up next to nothing on defense.

Spur remains undefeated starting district play

SPUR YEARBOOK STAFF Last Thursday, Oct.10, the Spur Bulldogs traveled to Silverton to start district play. The Bulldogs ended the game at halftime via the mercy rule, defeating the Owls 56-6. To begin the ball game, the Bulldogs won the toss and elected to receive the ball.

The #1-ranked Jayton Jaybirds moved to 6-0 Friday night, defeating the Newcastle Bobcats 72-22 just after the half. You could write about him every week, but on this night it was definitely junior running back Bode Ham who carried the load.

AlessandroDona is Hermleigh’s foreign exchange student from Turin, Italy. According to a Hermleigh ISD Facebook posting, Ale has fit in perfectly at their school and in their community. He’s adjusted well to their lifestyle, with every experience for him being something brand new.
