NHS INDUCTION Spur seniors and juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society earlier this month with special ceremonies to recognize their academic achievements.
GOOD-BYE TO SIX-MAN After serving Patton Springs ISD as head football coach since 2018, Eric Johnson has accepted a new position. Johnson will be leaving six-man football behind for an 11-man football team at Burkeville High School, near the Louisiana border. Students and staff took time last week to honor Johnson and give him a warm sendoff.
FAREWELL Spur’s coaching staff will have two departures this year: Coach David Castellon, the head basketball coach who has coached in Spur for four years, and Seth McMinn assistant football coach, who has coached in Spur for three years.
The 3rd annual Hacker’s Tournament was held on May 21–22 at the Spur Golf Association. It was a great weekend of golf, and a good time was had by the 37 two-person teams who came out to participate.
PATTON FFA HONORS On May 5 Patton Springs competed in the District FFA contest. Eight banners were brought home; in addition, Patton had five area qualifying speeches and one district officer.
MCMURRY SIGNING Brynn Yanez, who graduated from JGISD last week, also signed a letter of intent last week to run track with McMurry University in Abilene.
