CUTTER COMPETES Cutter Lee of Jayton competed this weekend in the Youth World Bull Riding Finals in Abilene, Texas. The event in Abilene is the biggest youth bull riding finals of the year, featuring the best riders against the best stock.
As the calendar flips from July to August, area students, teachers and school administrators are turning their thoughts from vacations and summer break to gearing up for classes, sports and extracurricular activities.
SPURETTES WORKOUT Conditioning for cross country, basketball and track is also a part of the August equation, and the Spurettes have been working out in the weight room getting ready for a new year of athletics.
TWO A DAYS Football coaches Tate Clark and Seth McMinn had 16 athletes turn out for the first day of football workouts on August 2. "Meet the Bulldogs" is slated for August 13.
BINGO AND BARBECUE The Kent County Lions Club hosted an evening of bingo and barbecue last week at the Jayton Community Center. The fundraiser was used to fund the Lions Club community service projects.
JAYTON CONNECTION Garrett Watson, a 2011 graduate of Jayton and now a third-year coach at Valley, coached Tripp Scott in the TMSCA boys All-Star basketball game Saturday in Wichita Falls.
