Ada Lou Chambless Bird, 1935–2023

POST—Ada Lou Chambless Bird, 88, of Post passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loving daughters.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Bird Family Ranch Cemetery, after gathering at the Hudman Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. to go in procession to the ranch. Interment followed under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home.

A visitation took place from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the funeral home.

Ada Lou was born January 4, 1935 in Spur, Texas, to the late Bill and Inez Chambless. She married James Allen “Jimmy” Bird III on July 7, 1950 in Roswell, N.M.

Ada Lou will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, friend and fashion social butterfly and owner of La Posta Boutique in Post for 50 years. She will be deeply remembered for her big smile, giving heart and vivacious personality long after her passing.

Ada Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Bird, son, Jay Cliff Bird, and daughter Lindy Lou Bird.

Ada Lou is survived by her three daughters Sherry Sappington of Lubbock, Texas, Cindy Shepherd of Post, Texas, and Dana Bird of Post; two sisters, Doris Hardin of Yoakum, Texas, and Wanda Hancock of Spur, Texas; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Post at 216 W. 10th St., Post, TX 79356.
