Joel Shawn Hart, 1939–2020

Joel Shawn Hart, 48, of Dickens passed away at home, surrounded by family, on March 23, 2020.

Shawn was born June 15, 1971, to Thomas and Marilyn (Adcock) Hart in Lubbock, Texas. He was a 1989 graduate of Shallowater High School. He married Amy Marshall on November 11, 1989, in Spur. Shawn loved to cowboy and team rope, and enjoyed fishing and cooking. He never met a stranger, and seemed run into people he knew everywhere he went.

He is survived by his wife, Amy; two sons, Mathew Hart (Sharrie) of Dickens and Tanner Hart of Clines Corner, N.M.; one daughter, Amery Butler (Jordan) of Estacado, Texas; his mom and dad, Marilyn and Tom Taylor of Spur, Texas; his father, Thomas Hart of Roaring Springs, Texas; one brother, Stephen Hart (Shalene) of Dickens; two sisters, Myra McCleskey of Roaring Springs and Michelle Raetz (Clinton) of Matador, Texas; and four grandchildren, Sydney Butler, Wyatt Butler, Stetson Hart and Stormy Butler.

Shawn was preceded in death by one infant grandson.

The family suggests memorials to Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA), 408 SW 7th Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79101.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Dickens Cemetery in Dickens, Texas, under the direction of Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.
