SPUR—Johnnie Lee Carlisle, 91, of Spur, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born August 28, 1929, in Bomarton, Texas, to Johnny and Mary Lee Johnson.

Johnnie married Rex Carlisle on February 6, 1960, in Lubbock. They made their home in Spur. Rex died April 17, 2006.

Any day playing golf with her friends was a perfect day for Johnnie. Having a houseful of family and friends was an even better day. She loved cooking and having everyone in her kitchen. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, her bluntness and her big loving heart.

She was preceded in death by husband, Rex; brother, Horace Johnson; sister, Judy Ellis; and her parents.

Johnnie is survived by two sons, David Hale (Kathy) of Tahoka, Texas and R.D. Hale (Susie) of Snyder, Texas; six daughters, Mary Ann Merritt (Jerry) of Woodward, Oklahoma, Reba Ooley (Richard) of Spearman, Texas, Brenda Randall (Jerry) of Lubbock, Sandra Cyr (Ron) of Mansfield, Texas, Shawnee Blancet of Wolfforth, Texas, and Twila Key (Randal) of Spur; and two stepdaughters, Rexine Burden (Roy) of Kilgore, Texas, and Marian Roberson (Gene) of Spur, Texas. She is survived by 21 grandchildren, 48 greatgrandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and one nephew.

A private graveside service, officiated by Leo Day, was held at the Spur Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in memory of Johnnie to your favorite charity.
