Margie L. Barclay, 1933–2021

LUBBOCK—Margie L. Barclay, née Campbell, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2021 at the age of 87. She was born in Linden, Texas, on November 13, 1933.

Margie graduated from Spur High School and Hardin Simmons University. She married the love of her life, Joe M. Barclay, in Spur, Texas, on February 14, 1956. She was a homemaker, a member of the Junior League of Lubbock, and a member of the Second Baptist Church. Margie loved spending time with family and friends, playing bridge, attending Texas Tech football games, and spending summers in Gunnison, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband of 59 years, Joe.

She is survived by her sister, Melba Camp of Amarillo, Texas; daughters Shella Barclay and husband Steve Warren of Lubbock, and Kara Rude and husband Donald Rude of Spur; grandson Tyler Barclay Rude of Spur; great-granddaughter Barclay June Rude of Spur; eight nieces and nephews; numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

Memorials are suggested in Margie’s honor to the charity of your choice.

Many thanks go to the staff of Wilshire Place Lubbock, and the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Covenant Hospital Lubbock.

A graveside service for Margie will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park, 5740 19th St., Lubbock, Texas.
