Sidney Paul Phillips

Sidney Paul Phillips passed away at the age of 46 on Friday, July 2, 2021, as the single victim of a tragic accident.

Sid was born in Lubbock, Texas, and was the valedictorian of his high school graduating class. He went on to attend Texas Tech University, initially majoring in petroleum engineering but ultimately finding a passion for medicine and graduating as a Doctor of Pharmacy and later earning his MBA from Jack Welch Management Institute. At the time of his death, Sid was serving as the administrative director of pharmacy for Memorial Hermann TMC Campus in Houston, Texas.

Born and raised on a farm, Sid had a love of ranching in his blood, and his time not spent in hospital was often spent with his family working their property. He could very often be found driving a tractor, hauling hay, mending fence or moving cattle. A true Texan, Sid felt most comfortable in boots. His formal and professional attire was always polished off with a pair of dress boots.

Sid loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and his honesty, tenacity, devotion, and love for his family were a reflection of his beliefs. He was humble and full of kindness. A true presence upon entering a room, he could command attention when necessary, but rarely wanted to be the center of attention. He loved to laugh and had a trademark sarcasm and wit.

Remarkably intelligent, ambitious, and respected in his field, Sid had just recently hit his career stride and had begun to settle into his East Bernard, Texas, home. No one in his life was ready for him to go.

We believe that Sid is at peace with his heavenly Father, and as fellow believers we are told that ours is not to question why, yet we do, and will struggle immensely with his sudden departure from this world.

To have known and loved Sid was a blessing and an honor.

Sid is survived by his best friend and wife of 22 years, Cheri; his son, Jude (12) and daughter, Johanna (10); his mother, Florene; sister Christy Jo and her husband; TJ; sons Logan and Wylie; and countless extended family, friends, and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Bill Phillips, in 1995. He was a devoted husband and loving father, a kind and caring son and son-in-law, nd a beloved brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
