Wilma Jo Hickman passed away peacefully on the morning of July 1, 2020, at the age of 90. Born September 26, 1929, to Ewell and Rosa Buckner, she was the youngest of four children.

Wilma grew up and attended school in McAdoo, Texas. After graduation she married Guinn Hickman on December 31, 1948. From their loving union God blessed them with two sons, Dwight and Lane.

Together the family farmed and weathered the ups and downs with each harvest.

Wilma was a member of the First Baptist Church of McAdoo, where she taught several generations in Sunday School. She loved each child who passed through her class and always referred to them as “one of her kids.”

Wilma also loved the community of McAdoo and everyone who resided there, past and present. Her favorite pasttime was gardening; she had a green thumb and grew many varieties of flowers, roses being her favorite. Her beautiful arrangements often adorned the pulpit of the church.

Wilma loved being a “mema” to her grandkids: Dana Jo and L.G. Little, and Shane and Linda Hickman; great-grandkids Larron and Kacy Little, Jaci and Jacob De-Weese, Zach Little, Raef Hickman and Brody Hickman; and great-great-grandkids Emery Little, Charli Little and Sage DeWeese.

Wilma was preceded in death by both parents, and her siblings, as well as husband Guinn Hickman and son Lane Hickman.

Wilma is survived by one son, Dwight Hickman; four grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 8, 2020, at the McAdoo Cemetery, under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. Donations can be made to the McAdoo Baptist Church or the McAdoo Cemetery.
