Donnie Scott Hare Brownlee

Donnie Scott Hare Brown-lee, 87, of DeLeon, Texas, went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, July 6, 2018. She was born June 9, 1931, in Spur, Texas, to John R. Scott and Betty Mae Clements Scott.

Donnie was a proud graduate of Spur High School (1948). She lived in DeLeon most all of her adult life where she raised three sons. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and the Couples II Sunday School Class. Donnie enjoyed many hobbies, including cooking, sewing, traveling with her family and many friends, working in her yard, tending to her flowers and spending time outdoors

She was very involved in the DeLeon community and volunteered in various capacities as she was able. She recently received the DeLeon Woman of the Year Award. Donnie was also a longtime member of the DeLeon Shakespeare Club and the Hospital Auxiliary.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Donnie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Elton Brownlee; son Mike Hare and wife, Dotty; son Toby Hare and wife, Lisa; and son Tim Hare and wife, Kim; and many loving relatives and friends, including one remaining sister, Betty Scott Burnett. Donnie was preceded in death by her first husband Carroll J. “Rabbit” Hare, five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services celebrating Donnie’s life were held Monday, July 9, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, DeLeon, with Dr. Jeff Burnett officiating. Interment followed in DeLeon Cemetery.
