Michaela Morales

1990–2026

Well Mom, I finally did it! I wasn’t doing something crazy like you thought.

Hate to admit it, but I, Michaela Morales, 35, of Spur, stubbornly left this world (and hopefully woke up in Heaven) on May 15, 2026, at home—right where the chaos began.

I was surrounded by a group of mother hens: my bossy know-it-all mom, and my handsome sons.

I was born on September 29, 1990, in Lubbock, to Angie Morales and Ricky Gonzalez. In 1991, I was moved to Post, Texas, where I was raised by my mom and my daddy, Bryan Taylor. Two years later, I was given a brother, better known as “the favorite kid.”

In 2006, after Daddy died, I moved to Spur, Texas. I graduated from Spur High School in 2009 with the help of Mr. Woolley and, much to my momma’s surprise, no, I didn’t cheat.

I lived aimlessly for about 10 years, then came back on top. I had a love-hate relationship with my job and the customers. I was loud, my opinions were louder, hilarious, and stubborn. I loved to argue (ask Mom), roast people, and trashtalk the ones I loved—even some I didn’t like.

I enjoyed a cold Modelo with salt and lime… or a hot one if that’s all there was. Music was everything to me, second only to family.

Most of all, I loved to talk— and talk fast. Grandpa Al always told me, “I didn’t understand a thing you said. Start over and go slow.”

In 2016, I got a dad again, Ray—someone who helped make us a family again.

In August 2025, I began my fight with small cell cervical carcinoma. I was winning, but the cancer got angry, grew fast, and took over—but not without one hell of a fight.

Left to miss me are my grandpa, Big Al Morales— you’re the best, and remember, you still owe me a beer—my mom, Angie Morales Hadderton— you were always there for me, and my two sons, Nathan Senn and Sebastian Lara, who were my whole heart and my biggest purpose in life.

Staying here on Earth to mourn me are my brother and best friend, “the favorite,” Skylor Taylor; his wife, “the best sister,” Rose; and my sweet nephews, Austin and Roy.

I also leave behind my father, Ricky Gonzalez; bonus mother, Jennie; my brothers, Takoda and T’Angelo Gonzalez; a whole bunch of step-siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins— some I loved, others I tolerated. Y’all can figure out which ones were which. Last but not the least, my ride or die Ramon Salazar and my big circle of friends, you know who you are and if you don't then I guess you weren’t in the circle.

I was preceded in death by my grandmothers, Lupe Ferguson and Bonnie Taylor; my daddy, Bryan Taylor; and my dad, Ray Martin.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Freedom Church. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May , 2026, at Zapata Funeral Home.
