Ramonda McMillan Bingham passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 87 years at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at Southcrest Baptist Church, with Dr. David Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Spur Cemetery, Spur, Texas, at 1 p.m., with Reverend Larry Burton officiating. Ramonda was born June 6, 1931, to the late Elizabeth Kelley and Frank McMillan in Amarillo, Texas. She and her family moved to Lubbock, Texas, in August 1941. Ramonda graduated from Lubbock High School in 1948 and attended Texas Tech University, where she was a member of DFD and later Delta Delta Delta. She met her husband, Dennis, at Tech, and they were married February 20, 1952, in Lubbock. She was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church, Lubbock Women’s Club (serving as their president in 1995-96), and the Horizon Study Club and also served on the Advisory Council of Lubbock Buckner Children’s and Family Services. Ramonda and her husband were selected to receive the R. C. Buckner Founder’s Award for “Philanthropists of the Year” in April 2008. Ramonda is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Vargas of Lubbock; son, Dean, of Monroe, Washington; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Ramonda is also survived by sisters-in-law, Linda McMillan of Whitesboro, Texas, and Helen Bingham of Odessa, Texas, and their families.
