Reginald Vance Mayo

(a.k.a. Jed) passed from this life Tuesday May 14, 2019, at the Joe Arrington Cancer Center in Lubbock, Texas, with his daughters by his side. He was born in Ralls, Texas on Dec. 26, 1938.

Reggie married the love of his life, Sandra Sue Spicer, on Oct. 25, 1963. He worked as a mechanic all of his life. In the 70s he opened his own garage and later Mayo’s Auto Parts Store. Reggie graduated from Spur High School in 1957. He was baptized in the Church of Christ at an early age.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Z.B. and Sibyl Mayo, brother, Z.B. Mayo Jr., and wife, Sandra Sue Spicer Mayo.

He is survived by his sister, Roszella Wyatt Stephenson, of Hemet, California; daughter Suzanne Mayo Parkhill, and husband Tod Parkhill of Spur, Texas; adopted daughter Yvonne Miller of Spur, Texas; Aunt Nell Mayo of Rye, Texas; grandkids, nieces and nephews, and many friends and relatives.

Family visitation was Friday, May 17, 2019, at Zapata Funeral Home in Spur from 6 to 9 p.m.

Graveside services were held Saturday May 18, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. at Spur Memorial Cemetery with nephew Robert Reginald Stephenson of Topeka, Kansas, officiating.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Bilberry (Stroke), Greg Arnold (Ziffle), Jay Hagins, Rick Paschall, Heath Givens and Dale Beaty. Honorary pallbearers were Preston, aka Goober, Givens, Joe Miller, Neal Hindman and Eric Swenson.
