Spring is certainly in the air, and we are probably all itching to be outdoors. I love seeing my neighbors out and about again. And when the West Texas wind isn’t making an appearance, it’s nice to enjoy the backyard, parks, and going to the lake.
Mark your calendars for Thursday May 5, 2022, aka Cinco de Mayo. The Friends of the Library will be having a Fiesta Pile-On fundraising supper from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the library. For a suggested donation of $10 you will get a meal, drink and dessert to either eat in or carry out.
Progress on Spur’s swimming pool and bathhouse renovations continued this week, with Argo Blockchain’s contractor conducting groundpenetrating radar testing on the soil beneath the existing pool.
Jayton High School won their second consecutive District UIL Academics championship by a margin of 146 points and qualified 19 students for regional competition to be held at South Plains College in Levelland on April 22.

JAYTON OAP ADVANCES The reigning state champion in 1A One Act Play, Jayton High School, took another step toward 2022 honors. The Jayton company of “Badger” was selected for area competition at last week’s bi-district competition in Post. Erielle Coulter and Abbie Mullen were selected as All Star Cast; Kennedy Gibson was named honorable mention All Star Cast; and Jaydon Rivera was named best light technician. Jayton OAP will compete at Area Saturday, April 1 at Frenship.
