Texas challenged by nursing, trucker shortage

AUSTIN—Texas has the fourth-lowest nurse-to-population ratio in the country, with only 9.25 nurses per 1,000 residents, according to a recent report by the comptroller’s office. The state’s aging population, along with the Covid-19 pandemic, has put increased pressure on all categories of nursing.

A newspaper’s comics section does not hold the fascination it once did to a child. Families in the 1960s and 1970s made a dash for the printed frame-by-frame jokes or stories. On Sunday, they were in color, which made for a holy war before church.
