The Dickens County Commission convened in its regular monthly session Monday, March 10, at 9 a.m. and approved digitally submitted reports from the sheriff’s office, the justice of the peace, the county treasurer, and Dickens County 4-H as presented.

The Kent County commission met Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, in regular session. The meeting was called to order at 9 a.m. by County Judge Layne Coulter, with county commissioners Turney Coulter, Robert Graham, Ray Hall and Debbie Myers present.

SIGNAL GONE The same week of a really intense sandstorm, the Texas Department of Transportation removed the flashing stop light at the intersection of Harris and Burlington causing many locals to wonder if it blew away. According to the City of Spur, the Texas Department of Transportation removed the signal and replaced it with flashing stop signs on all four sides of the intersection. The Dickens County- Spur Public Library was recently informed that it is the recipient of a $6,930 grant from the Tocker Foundation. The Tocker Foundation promotes Texas public libraries in communities of 12,000 population or less.
