Dickens County 4-H brought home some winning record books last week.

Spur teacher wins SPEC mini-grant

A Spur teacher was one of eight teachers across the South Plains to win a South Plains Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up Teacher Mini-Grant. Myles Hammack of Spur ISD was awarded a grant to support work on the school greenhouse garden project.

Perfect weather for scramble calls for playoff

It was a near perfect evening for Golf Scramble Tuesday, June 28, with temperatures in in the 80s! There was only a slight breeze blowing. Five teams were formed, and two places were paid out.

McCay and KCBD-TV team spend time in Spur

Patton Springs names new football coach

Juan Salas will be the new football coach at Patton Springs with the new school year. A graduate of New Mexico State University, he comes to the head football coach position at Patton Springs from Amherst, Texas, where he was the assistant football coach and head track coach for three years.

Comings and goings at Spur schools

COMING Colton Rogers, the head girls basketball coach at Rule, has been named the head girls basketball coach of the Spur Spurettes. He replaces David Castellon, who coached the Spurettes for five years, earning more than 100 wins and four playoff appearances.

Leadership Camp scheduled for July 11–15

CrossView Christian Camp in Dickens is hosting its fourth annual Leadership Camp July 11-15. According to CrossView development director Kassi Appleton, the camp is looking for older teens (at least 16 years of age) and young adults who are interested in leadership and ministry.
