Jayton’s ‘Big Event’ set for Tuesday, May 17

One of the area’s largest community improvement projects has been happening every May in Jayton since 2014.

Patton Springs coach to pursue new position

After serving Patton Springs ISD since 2018, head football coach Eric Johnson has accepted a new positon. Johnson will be leaving six-man football behind for an 11-man football team at Burkeville High School, near the Louisiana border.

It was a beautiful evening for Golf Scramble Tuesday! Thankfully, the wind/dirt was not blowing 50 miles per hour! Can I get a hallelujah and an amen for that blessing? Four teams were formed, with two places being paid out.

Spur approves Argo option for swimming pool

At a special called meeting Wednesday, April 10, 2022, the Spur City Council reviewed options for design of its swimming pool as provided Monday night by donor Argo Blockchain.

FBC’s Edwards accepts call to Pottsboro

After six years as pastor of Jayton’s First Baptist Church, Rev. Jake Edwards has accepted a call to the Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro, Texas, near Denison on the Oklahoma border north of Dallas.

JAYTON CHEERLEADERS’ FUNDRAISER

JAYTON CHEERLEADERS’ FUNDRAISER The Jayton Cheerleaders are hosting a fundraiser Sunday, May 1 at noon at the Jayton Community Center until the food sells out. On the menu are pulled pork sandwiches/wraps, rice, beans, dessert and tea. The cheerleaders are accepting donations for plates.
