GOOD-BYE TO SIX-MAN After serving Patton Springs ISD as head football coach since 2018, Eric Johnson has accepted a new position. Johnson will be leaving six-man football behind for an 11-man football team at Burkeville High School, near the Louisiana border.

Kent Co. Lions says good-bye to president, selects new leader

Jake Edwards, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jayton, has accepted a minster’s position at Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro, Texas. In Jayton, Edwards served on the city council, announced the football games and also led the Lions Club as president this past year.

Tenth annual softball tournament set for June 10–11 in Spur

The decade-long tradition continues as teams from across the area will converge in Spur June 10-11 for FBC Spur’s annual Coed Softball Tournament. The roster is already full this year with teams from Idalou, Crosbyton, Jayton and Spur.

The Spur Golf Association Board of Directors gathered for the regular monthly meeting on May 11, 2022. There are so many great things happening at our course now and in the future, we can’t wait to share everything with you! Details are being lined out and will be released soon!

JAYTON TO STATE

JAYTON TO STATE Congrats go to Jayton Jaybirds Daylee Chisum and Kamryn Nail on finishing as regional champion and runner-up in the 3200m run. Both have qualified to compete at the State track meet Thursday– Saturday, May 12–14, at the Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas in Austin.

Dickens County 4-H’ers participate in horse judging

At the 4-H District Horse Judging contest April 27, Dickens County teams placed third, with seniors qualifying for state roundup for a second time. “Our kids did an awesome job at district horse judging,” said extension agent Rusty Lanier.
