Sellers prepare for Highway 70 Garage Sales May 7

Around the region, folks looking to clean their closets and make a little cash have been gearing up for the annual Highway 70 Garage Sale. The 2022 event is slated for Saturday, May 7, 2022, featuring stops along the Texas 70 route from Jayton to Turkey.

TRACK HONORS

TRACK HONORS Congratulations go to the Spur High School Spurettes and Bulldogs. The girls were area champions and have 10 girls advancing to the regional meet. The boys came in third and have 9 boys advancing to the regional meet. The regional meet will be held in Levelland next Friday and Saturday.

Graduation dates coming up for area high schools

Area schools have set their graduation dates for the Class of 2022 next month. In addition, graduation questionnaires will be sent this week to school counselors so that the newspaper can feature graduating seniors in a special Graduation Keepsake Edition, May 19, 2022.

Dickens 4-H competes at District Roundup

Dickens County 4-H did well at last week’s District Roundup competition.

FISHING REPORT

Lake Alan Henry GOOD. Water clear; 62 degrees; 5.28 feet low. Bait balls are moving all over the lake. Crappie are good in 4-28 feet of water on minnows and jigs. They are full of eggs moving up to spawn. Catfish are slow on liver, fresh cut bait and live perch.

Homecoming 2022 date set for Spur Bulldogs

One of the most highly anticipated events of the year, Homecoming for the Spur Bulldogs and loyal Spur ISD Exes, has been firmed up on the school calendar. According to Spur mayor Louise Jones, the dates have been set for Thursday–Sunday, Oct.
