Guthrie wins 15-1A district title

Guthrie Lady Jaguars 41 Jayton Lady Jays 31 Guthrie has advanced to the playoffs for the first time in seven years. Their final regular season game was against Motley County at home. Win or lose, they are still district champions and were awarded the district trophy at the final game of the season.

Jayton, Paducah, Spur: 1,2,3 so far in playoff picture

There’s a bigger difference between the haves and the have-nots in the 15-1A basketball race for the boys than the girls. Whereas a variety of scenarios could affect the girls when three teams are tied for second, the boys’ race is much more defined.

New challenges for area teams with realignment

Texas’ University Interscholastic League released its 2020 district alignments for football and basketball Monday, and some significant changes are in store for area teams for football. Basketball districts remain unchanged.

15-1A girls' basketball playoff rife with scenarios

At press time three games remain for the six girls’ basketball teams in district 15-1A, but potential playoff scenarios far outnumber the half dozen competitors. Guthrie’s Lady Jaguars (6-1) are in first place with only one loss.
