Jayton falls short against Blackwell in quarterfinal

On a foggy night at Borden County, the Jayton Jaybirds were defeated by the Blackwell Hornets 62 to 54. This state quarterfinal loss ended the season for a team with high aspirations.

Going into Friday night’s matchup the Spur Bulldogs were excited to reach area playoffs for the first time in nine years — but they were also anxious. The number nine Spur Bulldogs knew they were outranked by the number three, McLean Tigers, according to sixmanfootball.com.

STATE BOUND District 3 Food Challenge was Wednesday, Nov. 20. Dickens County’s senior team of Bucki Smith, Laney Weiser, Paige Gonzalez and Alyssa Fulmer won first place and will be going to state.
