One Act Play bi-district contest

Three area high schools will compete in the UIL One Act Play bi-district competition in Guthrie on Saturday, March 23. Guthrie High School will present “The Last Night of Ballyhoo”, Jayton High School will present “These Shining Lives” and Spur High School will present “Tracks”.

Annual Jayton women’s program scheduled April 9

The 14th Annual Jayton Women’s Program will take place at the Jayton Community Center on Tuesday, April 9. Registration, shopping and a silent auction begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a salad supper at 6 p.m. This year’s guest speaker is Tricia Edwards.

The clock struck midnight on the Jaybird basketball team’s Cinderella season. The Slidell Greyhounds defeated Jayton Saturday morning 49 to 36 for the state 1A basketball championship in the Alamodome in San Antonio.
