SPUR—Shirley Whitefield was born on January 12, 1946, to parents Elmer and Ethel Long of Girard, Texas. She was the youngest of three children; older sister Bernice Watson resides in Jayton, Texas, and brother James Long of Girard preceded her in death.

Jerry Don Flournoy, 1944–2020

SPUR—Jerry Don Flournoy, 76, of Spur, Texas, entered heaven’s gates on Sunday, December 13, 2020. Jerry was born October 24, 1944, in Ralls, TX to E.H. and Tess Flournoy. He spent his early years in Crosbyton, Texas, and later graduated from Crosbyton High School.

Johnnie Carlisle, 1929–2020

SPUR—Johnnie Lee Carlisle, 91, of Spur, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born August 28, 1929, in Bomarton, Texas, to Johnny and Mary Lee Johnson. Johnnie married Rex Carlisle on February 6, 1960, in Lubbock. They made their home in Spur.

Kayla Cassandra Lewis, 1944–2020

“Sandy” Lewis, 76, of Dickens, Texas, entered heaven’s gates on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, in Crosbyton, Texas. Sandy was born in Spur, Texas, on March 3, 1944, to Walter Ray and Pauline (Day) Bateman. She grew up in Afton, Texas, and graduated from Patton Springs High School.

Jettie Faye Garner, 1928–2020

Faye Garner, our wonderful mother, passed away November 27, 2020, to begin her heavenly life. A memorial service to honor her will be held at a later date. Faye was born July 31, 1928, in Hamlin, Texas, to Floyd and Jettie Renfro. In 1947 she married E.W. (Bunk) Garner and made her home in Spur.

Jo Ann Pirtle Harrison, 1931–2020

LUBBOCK—Jo Ann Pirtle Harrison, 89, formerly of Spur, went to meet her maker on November 21, 2020. She was born in Anton, Texas, on March 20, 1931, to J.B. “Doc” and Veo Pirtle. Her grandparents, Dr. Jenkins Pirtle and his wife, nurse Beulah Pirtle, presided over the birth.

Vernon Dale Crafton, 1938-2020

LUBBOCK—Vernon Dale Crafton, 82, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020. A private funeral service for his family will be held under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. He was born June 25, 1938, in Spur, Texas, to O.V. and Willie Lee Crafton.

Valene Schmidt, 1948–2020

Valene Kay Taylor Schmidt was born March 9, 1948, in Crosbyton, Texas, to Jonah Taylor and Catherine Nina Webb Taylor. She was a loving wife to her husband, John Randle Schmidt, for 55 years. They were married on August 6, 1965, and had two children.

Ben Douglas Oliver, 1927–2020

JAYTON—Ben Douglas Oliver of Jayton, Texas, passed away on November 18, 2020, at the age of 93 after a long and wonderful life. Ben was born June 15, 1927 in Belton, Texas, to John and Elizabeth Oliver. Ben grew up on the family farm and went on to attend Texas A&M University.

Robert E. Hall, 1947–2020

JAYTON—It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert E. Hall. He died on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas, after complications of a severe stroke. Robert was 73 years old.
