Olga Smith, 1957–2020

Olga Smith, 63, of Spur, Texas, entered Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. She was born May 4, 1957, in Lubbock, Texas, to Luis Jr. and Felice Martinez Leyva. Olga worked as a correctional officer for over 20 years at TDC and in Spur. Her family was her biggest passion.

Cruz Castillo 1948-2020

Cruz Castillo, 72, of Spur, TX passed away peacefully on August 13, 2020 in Anson, TX. He was born May 3, 1948 to Mencho Castillo and Licha (Montemayor) in Leander, TX. Cruz was a farmer and then Tire Technician at the Spur Farmers Coop. He was the #1 most requested flat tire repairman in the area.

Grady Joe Harrison

A graveside service for the late Grady Joe Harrison of Lubbock, formerly of Coleman and Spur, will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Coleman Cemetery pavilion in Coleman, Texas. Flowers may be sent to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

Elwanda Jean (O’Keefe) Hahn 87, of Jayton died July 29, 2020. Services were held Sunday afternoon, August 2, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Girard Cemetery, Girard, Texas, with Patrick Hamilton officiating. Born Elwanda Jean O’Keefe on March 8, 1933 in Post, Texas, Elwanda was the only child of Chris V.

Zella Harris, 1921–2020

Zella Harris passed away July 14, 2020. She was born April 5, 1921, to Clyde and Eva Starrett in Crosby County, Texas. In 1936 she moved to Dickens County. Zella married Luther Harris in 1942 and resided in Dickens County until 1991, when she moved to Lubbock.

Diane Vasquez Bunker, 1966–2020

Diane Bunker (Vasquez) beloved wife, devoted mother, and precious daughter and sister went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 9, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas, surrounded by her family. Diane was born on March 21, 1966, in Spur, Texas, to Jessie Hernandez Vasquez and Gloria Morales Vasquez.

Debbie Daughtry, 1954–2020

Debbie Daughtry, 65, of Spur, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 11, 2020. She was born July 16, 1954, in Friona, Texas, to Melvin and Ella Hall. She was a 1972 graduate of Lubbock Coronado High School and graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 1977.

Wilma Jo Hickman 1929–2020

Wilma Jo Hickman passed away peacefully on the morning of July 1, 2020, at the age of 90. Born September 26, 1929, to Ewell and Rosa Buckner, she was the youngest of four children. Wilma grew up and attended school in McAdoo, Texas. After graduation she married Guinn Hickman on December 31, 1948.

Betty Lee James, 1928–2002

Betty Lee James, 92, passed away at home Wednesday morning, June 24 in Spur, TX. She was born in Girard, TX on March 23, 1928, to Bonnie Fincher Simpson and Joseph Ezekiel “Bill” Simpson. She was a typical farm girl who grew up working hard and learning strong values.
