Coming off a frustrating loss against O’Donnell the previous week, the Jayton Jaybirds looked to find their winning ways once again as they hosted the Petersburg Buffaloes.

I can’t think of a double-crust pot pie that isn’t met with enthusiasm. The tender, flaky crust paired with a rich, creamy sauce and chunks of poultry or meat is unmatched. This time of year certainly gets me thinking about pot pies, shepherd’s pie, and casseroles. Most are, conveniently, one-dish-meals.

On Thursday, September 17, the Spur fifth grade social studies classes presented a Constitution Day program in the Dog Dome auditorium. The entire school attended.
The Spur Senior Citizens Center, located at 210 Burlington Ave., will be serving a noon meal Monday through Friday. The Jayton Jaybirds started the week under the impression that they would face the Valley Patriots in an away matchup spectators were calling the “Brother Bowl II.” Having watched film the previous Saturday, the Jaybirds were preparing to practice against everything the Patriots had to offer.
