The Jayton Jaybirds fell to the No. 1-rankedin-the-state and reigning state champion Texline Tornadoes 52–34 in the Region I-1A basketball tournament championship at the Texan Dome on the campus of South Plains College on Saturday.

Spur students competed in tennis last week at South Plains College, and received a variety of honors. In Boys Singles B, Jeffery Mathews took 1st place, winning his last match 9–7.

Spur band members win honors

Spur High School band members competed in UIL Solo and Ensemble on February 19. Honors were awarded to: Hannah Mosley, Division 1; Zech Mosley, Division 1; JD Hamilton, Division 2 (no photos available). Spur Junior High participated in the Ralls Solo and Ensemble junior high contest.

Martin competes at BPA State Leadership Conference

FORT WORTH—Spur High School senior Tristen Martin competed in the Business Professionals of America 2022 State Leadership Conference in Fort Worth March 2-5, 2022, winning fifth place in the Presentation Management Individual event after advancing from preliminary rounds and advancing to finals.
