50 students make up 2018-19 band

The 2018 - 2019 Spur Mighty Bulldog Band is looking good. The band began practicing drills/sets, music and marching two weeks before the beginning of classes. This year the band is approximately 50 kids strong, representing 8th through 12th grades, including three seniors.

Jayton Gridiron Classic happens Aug 30–Sept 1

The 15th annual Jayton Gridiron Classic kicks off Thursday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. in Jayton. 18 teams will play during the three-day event. In addition, Jaybird Alley vendors will be set up on the practice field from 10 a.m. until dark on Saturday, Sept. 1 for football shopping necessities.

Jaybirds solid in scrimmage against Newcastle, Hermleigh

The Jayton Jaybirds welcomed football to the area on Friday, Aug. 17, as they participated in their first scrimmage at home against the Newcastle Bobcats and the Hermleigh Cardinals. Head Football Coach Josh Stanaland entered the game with a clear goal for his team.

Bulldogs bring physical play to Valley scrimmage

The Spur Bulldogs saw their first action this year against White Deer in the four-team scrimmage in Valley on Friday night. After the JV battled against White Deer, Petersburg and Valley, the varsity boys saw action against Valley and White Deer.
