Ira upsets #10 Happy at Jayton Gridiron Classic

JAYTON — One win will not make a season, but Ira may have one of its most important wins in recent years. No. 21 Ira used a balanced offensive attack in a 41-32 win over No. 10 Happy at the Jayton Gridiron Classic Saturday.

Rangers caught in Mustangs’ stampede

The Patton Springs Rangers opened their preseason at home against the Claude Mustangs on Thursday, Aug. 30. The Claude Mustangs were the first out of the gate with a kickoff return for a touchdown on the first play of the game.

Goal-line interceptions bite Bulldogs

The Crowell Wildcats defeated the Spur Bulldogs 42–38 Saturday, Sept. 1 in Jayton. When asked immediately after the game about his feelings, Coach Tate Clark said, “Lots of mistakes lost us the game. We probably had about 100 yards of penalties in the first half.

Some of the state’s top six-man football teams will do battle in Jayton during the Labor Day holiday weekend at the 15th Annual Jayton Gridiron Classic. This event continues to grow each year, and in addition to football, shopping will be available at Jaybird Alley all day on Saturday.

Jayton finishes preseason strong against Ira

The Jayton Jaybirds finished their preseason against the Ira Bulldogs in an away scrimmage on Friday, August 24. Both programs looked to gain an advantage over the other in preparation for their first regular season game next week.
